UAE’s Work Bundle Platform Streamlines Employment Processes

UAE About to Simplify Employment Processes for Businesses and Workers.

The UAE has significantly improved the efficiency of processing work permits and residency visas, reducing the time for cancellations to 45 seconds from three minutes. This enhancement is part of the second phase of the Work Bundle platform, which aims to simplify employment processes for businesses and workers.

This initiative is crucial for businesses and employees in the UAE. It aims to foster a more efficient and streamlined process for obtaining and managing work-related permits and visas.

The UAE Work Bundle Platform

The United Arab Emirates has launched the second phase of its Work Bundle platform, which aims to simplify and expedite employment-related processes. Initially launched in Dubai in March, the platform is operational across all seven emirates, benefiting approximately 600,000 companies and over seven million workers.

Reduction of Work Permit Cancellation

One of the significant improvements in the second phase is reducing work permit cancellation time to just 45 seconds from the previous three minutes. This enhancement is part of a broader effort to reduce the time required to process work permits and residency visas from 30 days to just five days.

One Platform to Minimize Documents and Procedural Steps

The Work Bundle platform integrates services from government entities, including the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, and health departments. This integration facilitates the issuance of new work permits, status adjustments, visas, employment contracts, Emirates ID, residency, and medical examination services.

By consolidating these services into a single platform, the UAE has significantly reduced the number of required documents and procedural steps. This has cut the necessary steps from 15 to five, reduced the number of records from 16 to five, and reduced customer visits to service centers from seven to just two.

The platform’s design supports the UAE’s „Zero Bureaucracy“ initiative, aiming to eliminate redundant procedures and enhance government efficiency. It also implements a unified payment system, minimizing administrative burdens and fostering a more competitive business environment.

The New UAE Competition Law

The reform of competition law in the UAE marks a significant step towards a more modern and transparent regulatory framework. The introduction of clearly defined merger control thresholds, the elimination of broad sectoral exemptions, and the substantial tightening of penalties reflect a more regulated competitive environment. The law came into force on December 29, 2023, while the new merger control thresholds have been in effect since March 31, 2025. Companies must therefore ensure full compliance with these new provisions as of that date.
